A. Dick

Dick Howser was a Major League Baseball player and manager. He died on June 17, 1987, at the age of 51, following a battle with brain cancer. That same year, friends established the Dick Howser Trophy in his memory — an annual award presented to the national college baseball player of the year and considered the Heisman Trophy of college baseball.
