Alvin O'Neal McBean (May 15, 1938 – January 31, 2024) was a right-handed pitcher from the United States Virgin Islands who spent the majority of his Major League Baseball career with the Pittsburgh Pirates. McBean came to the Pirates' attention when they held a tryout in St. Thomas in 1957 — he attended originally to photograph the event for a local paper and was persuaded by friends to participate. After three seasons in Pittsburgh's farm system, posting a 28–21 record with a 3.57 ERA, he made his major league debut on July 2, 1961, against the San Francisco Giants at Forbes Field.
