Alec Connell (February 8, 1900 – May 10, 1958), nicknamed "The Ottawa Fireman," was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League for the Ottawa Senators, Detroit Falcons, New York Americans, and Montreal Maroons. He joined the Senators for the 1924–25 season and led the league with seven shutouts in 30 games as a rookie. In 1927–28 he set an NHL record, still standing, for the longest shutout streak at 461 minutes and 29 seconds, recording seven consecutive shutouts plus 41 minutes of an eighth game between January 31 and February 22, 1928. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1958, though he died of illness on May 10, 1958, before his formal induction.
