Art Ditmar

Art Ditmar was a right-handed starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who played nine seasons from 1954 to 1962, splitting his career between the Philadelphia/Kansas City Athletics and the New York Yankees. Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, he grew up in Pittsfield. A finesse control pitcher, Ditmar won 47 games for New York over five seasons, posting a career-high 15 wins in 1960 while working behind a rotation that included Whitey Ford, Don Larsen, and Bob Turley. He finished with a 72–77 record, 552 strikeouts, and a 3.98 ERA across 1,268 innings.
