Art Ross Trophy
Dossier
The Art Ross Trophy is awarded annually to the NHL player who leads the league in points at the end of the regular season. Presented to the league in 1947 by Arthur Howey "Art" Ross — former general manager and head coach of the Boston Bruins and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee — the trophy has been awarded 71 times to 29 players since its introduction in the 1947–48 season. Elmer Lach of the Montreal Canadiens was its first recipient. Ross is also credited with designing the official NHL puck, featuring slightly bevelled edges for improved control.
