Bill Lee

Dossier

William Francis Lee III, nicknamed "Spaceman," was a left-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1969 to 1982. He spent the majority of his career with the Boston Red Sox (1969–1978) before finishing with the Montreal Expos (1979–1982). Lee holds the Red Sox record for most games pitched by a left-hander with 321 appearances and ranks third in wins among Red Sox southpaws with 94. In 2008 he was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame. Lee was also known for his unorthodox "Leephus pitch," a personalized variation of the eephus pitch.
