Bill Madlock

Dossier

Bill "Mad Dog" Madlock, Jr. (born January 12, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee) was a right-handed third baseman who played in Major League Baseball from 1973 to 1987. A product of Eisenhower High School in Decatur, Illinois, and Southeastern Community College in Keokuk, Iowa, Madlock won four National League batting titles during his career — a record among third basemen until Wade Boggs claimed his fifth in 1988. Since 1970, only Tony Gwynn has won more NL batting titles. Madlock is one of only three right-handed hitters to win multiple NL batting titles since 1960, alongside Roberto Clemente and Tommy Davis.
