Bill McCahan

Dossier
Bill McCahan was an American Major League Baseball right-handed pitcher who played for the Philadelphia Athletics from 1946 to 1949. Over his career he posted a 16-14 record with a 3.84 ERA, 76 strikeouts in 290 2/3 innings, 17 complete games, and two shutouts. His most notable performance came on September 3, 1947, when he threw a no-hitter against the Washington Senators, winning 3-0 at Shibe Park; that season he won 10 games with a 3.32 ERA. McCahan's career declined after he suffered a shoulder injury in 1948, which curtailed his effectiveness and shortened his time in the majors. He pitched in the post-World War II American League of the late 1940s.
