William McCreary (born November 17, 1955, in Guelph, Ontario) was a National Hockey League referee who officiated from 1981 until his retirement in 2011. Over his career he worked 1,737 regular season games, 297 playoff games, and fifteen Stanley Cup Finals. McCreary also officiated the 1991 Canada Cup, the 1996 World Cup of Hockey, and the 1998, 2002, and 2010 Winter Olympics, calling the gold medal game at each Olympic appearance. He wore uniform number 7 beginning with the 1994–95 season and was among the few NHL officials to wear a helmet throughout his career.
