Gordon William Hunter (1928–2025) was a right-handed shortstop who played, coached, and managed in Major League Baseball. Born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, he attended Penn State on a baseball and football scholarship before signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers organization in 1948, spending five years in their minor league system. Hunter went on to play for the St. Louis Browns and was part of the Baltimore Orioles' 1954 inaugural roster. He served as a reserve shortstop on the 1956 World Series champion New York Yankees, and later coached third base for Baltimore Orioles clubs that won the World Series in 1966 and 1970.
