Billy Ray Smith

Billy Ray Smith Sr. (born January 27, 1935, Augusta, Arkansas) was a defensive lineman in the NFL from 1957 to 1970. He played college football at the University of Arkansas, where he was part of the 1954 Southwest Conference Championship team. His professional career spanned 13 seasons in the National Football League. Before football, Smith was a accomplished amateur boxer, winning the Golden Gloves regional championship in 1953 and 1954 and the South Heavyweight Championship in 1955 and 1956. He died on March 21, 2001.
