Bill Shepherd Jr. (born November 18, 1949, in Bedford, Indiana) was a 5-foot-10 point guard who played in the American Basketball Association from 1972 to 1975. At Carmel High School — where his father, Bill Shepherd Sr., served as coach — he scored 2,465 career points and was named Indiana's Mr. Basketball in 1968. He went on to Butler University, his father's alma mater, setting school records for career scoring average (24.1 points per game) and single-season scoring average (27.8). In the ABA he suited up for the Virginia Squires, San Diego Conquistadors, and Memphis Sounds, averaging 5.7 points per game and leading the league in three-point field goal percentage (.420) in 1974–75. He was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 1997.
