Billy Truax

Dossier
William Frederick Truax III (1943–2026) played tight end in the NFL for the Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys after a college career at Louisiana State University, where he earned first-team All-SEC honors from United Press International and second-team recognition from the Associated Press, which also named him an honorable mention All-American. Truax was among the early 1960s tight ends who combined pass-catching ability with run-blocking, a style associated with the era's top players at the position. During his prime years as a starter from 1966 to 1971, his teams posted a 60–20–4 record, reached the playoffs three times, and won Super Bowl VI with Dallas.
