Bob Elliott was an American Major League Baseball third baseman and right fielder who played from 1939 to 1953. He began with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1939-1946), then joined the Boston Braves (1947-1951), and closed his career with the New York Giants (1952), St. Louis Browns (1953), and Chicago White Sox (1953). Over 15 seasons he compiled 2,061 hits, a .289 batting average, 170 home runs, and 1,195 RBI. Elliott was named National League Most Valuable Player in 1947 and was selected to seven All-Star teams (1941, 1942, 1944, 1945, 1947, 1948, and 1951). He hit for the cycle on July 15, 1945, and helped the Braves reach the 1948 World Series. He recorded the second-most hits of any player during the 1940s. Active primarily in that decade, Elliott was one of the National League's leading run producers of the period.
