Robert Charles Nieman (1927–1985) was a right-handed outfielder who attended Kent State University before signing with the Cincinnati Reds organization in 1948. After winning the Texas League batting title with a .324 average, he reached the majors with the St. Louis Browns in 1951 and went on to play parts of twelve seasons across seven clubs — the Browns, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, and San Francisco Giants. He closed his professional career with a season in Japan for the Chunichi Dragons in 1963. He later worked as a scout.
