Bob Spade was born January 4, 1877 in Akron, Ohio, and died September 7, 1924 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He made his major-league debut in 1907 and was associated chiefly with the Cincinnati Reds, with his final big-league appearance coming in 1910. He stood 5-foot-10 and was listed at 190 pounds, and batted and threw right-handed. His likeness survives in the cardboard record on the T206 White Border issue. The T206 White Border set, issued by the American Tobacco Company between 1909 and 1911 and distributed in cigarette packs, remains the most widely collected of all pre-war baseball card releases. He is buried at Springfield Center Cemetery in Akron, Ohio.
