Bobby Bonds

Dossier

Bobby Lee Bonds (March 15, 1946 – August 23, 2003) was an American right fielder who played in Major League Baseball from 1968 to 1981. He suited up for eight clubs across his career, including the San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees, California Angels, Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Cardinals, and Chicago Cubs. A prolific leadoff hitter with rare power-speed combination, Bonds was the first player to post five seasons of 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases, a mark later matched only by his son Barry. He also became the second player in history to reach both 300 career home runs and 300 stolen bases, joining Willie Mays.
