Bobby Wine
Dossier
Robert Paul Wine Sr. (born September 17, 1938) played shortstop in the National League for 12 seasons, splitting his career between the Philadelphia Phillies (1960, 1962–68) and the Montreal Expos (1969–72). Signed by Philadelphia out of Northport High School in 1957, Wine built his reputation on defense rather than offense. He won the National League Gold Glove Award in 1963, recognition of his work at shortstop. After his playing career ended, he remained in the game as a coach and manager.
