Dossier

Brian Sutter, born October 7, 1956, was a Canadian ice hockey forward who spent his entire 12-season NHL playing career with the St. Louis Blues after being selected 20th overall in the 1976 draft. A left wing, he served as team captain for nine years and appeared in three NHL All-Star Games (1982, 1983, 1985). A back injury ended his playing days in 1988, after which St. Louis retired his number 11. He transitioned directly to coaching with the Blues (1988–1992), winning the 1991 Jack Adams Award as the NHL's top coach, later adding head coaching stints in Boston, Calgary, and Chicago.
