Brigman P. Owens (February 16, 1943 – June 21, 2022) played safety in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins. At Fullerton Junior College he earned junior college All-American honors and transferred to the University of Cincinnati in 1963, where he became the school's first African American starter at quarterback. He threw for 974 yards and seven touchdowns, led the team in rushing with 556 yards and six scores, and ranked twelfth nationally in total offense. As a senior he guided Cincinnati to a 10–1 record, the most wins in program history at the time.
