Dossier

Madison Monroe "Buzz" Nutter (1931–2008) was a center in the National Football League who played college football at Virginia Tech, where he became the first player from that school drafted into the NFL despite three losing seasons. Selected by the Washington Redskins in the 12th round of the 1953 draft, he did not make the roster and worked in a West Virginia steel mill before returning to professional football with the Baltimore Colts in 1954. He spent seven seasons with Baltimore, winning back-to-back NFL Championships in 1958 and 1959, before finishing his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
