Carl Erskine (December 13, 1926 – April 16, 2024), nicknamed "Oisk," was a right-handed pitcher who spent his entire Major League Baseball career with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers from 1948 through 1959. Born in Anderson, Indiana, he was a pitching mainstay on Dodger teams that won five National League pennants and the 1955 World Series. In 1953 he won 20 games and set a World Series strikeout record with 14 in a single game. He was named an All-Star in 1954 and threw two no-hitters during the 1950s.
