Carlos May was a switch-hitting outfielder, first baseman, and designated hitter who played in Major League Baseball from 1968 to 1977. A product of A. H. Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama, May was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the first round of the 1966 draft and spent the bulk of his career there, earning two American League All-Star selections. He also appeared with the New York Yankees and California Angels before taking his career to Japan, playing for the Nankai Hawks in Nippon Professional Baseball from 1978 to 1981. He is the younger brother of former major leaguer Lee May.
