Charles H. Mitchell (1940-2025) was an American football running back. He played college football at Washington and was a member of the team that won the 1961 Rose Bowl. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 1963 NFL Draft and by the Denver Broncos in the 1963 AFL Draft. Mitchell played five seasons for the Broncos and one for Buffalo in the American Football League. His best season came in 1964, when he rushed 177 times for 590 yards and 5 touchdowns and added 33 receptions for 225 yards. After football he worked in higher education, serving as president of Seattle Central Community College and later as chancellor of the Seattle Community Colleges District.
