Dossier
Charles Robert Simmer (born March 20, 1954) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger who played 14 seasons in the NHL. Selected by the California Golden Seals in the third round of the 1974 draft, he also played for the Cleveland Barons, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, and Pittsburgh Penguins. His career took off with the Kings, where he scored 56 goals in both the 1979–80 and 1980–81 seasons as part of the "Triple Crown Line" alongside Marcel Dionne and Dave Taylor. He shared the NHL goal-scoring title in 1980, becoming the first Kings player to lead the league in goals. A serious leg injury in March 1981 curtailed production, but he rebounded with back-to-back 80-point seasons and an All-Star Game selection in 1984. Traded to Boston in 1984, he posted three straight 60-point seasons with the Bruins.
