Carroll Christopher Chambliss played first base in Major League Baseball from 1971 to 1988, spending his career primarily with the Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, and Atlanta Braves. He won the American League Rookie of the Year Award with Cleveland in 1971 and was selected as an All-Star with New York in 1976, the year he hit the series-winning home run in the ALCS. Chambliss was part of the Yankees' World Series championship teams in 1977 and 1978, earning a Gold Glove Award in the latter season. He later won four more World Series rings as New York's hitting coach from 1996 to 2000.
