Dossier

Charles Keith Cottier (January 8, 1936 – February 1, 2021) was a right-handed second baseman who played nine seasons in Major League Baseball. Born in Delta, Colorado, he appeared in 580 games across stints with the Milwaukee Braves, Detroit Tigers, Washington Senators, and California Angels, posting a career batting average of .220 and a .973 fielding percentage. Known more for his glove than his bat, he collected 348 hits, 19 home runs, and 63 doubles before an Achilles tendon injury ended his playing career in May 1969. He later managed in the minor leagues and served as Seattle Mariners third base coach, being named interim manager in September 1984.
