Dossier

Charles Joseph Hiller (1934–2004) was a left-handed-hitting second baseman who played in Major League Baseball. A product of the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota — where he batted .576 in 1955 and helped the Tommies win the MIAC title in 1956 — Hiller was signed by the Cleveland Indians in 1957 before being drafted by the San Francisco Giants in December 1958. He earned Texas League Player of the Year honors in 1960. In the 1962 World Series, he became the first National League player to hit a grand slam in Series history. He later spent the remainder of his career in baseball as a coach and manager.
