Charles Edward Hinton Jr. (May 3, 1934 – January 27, 2013) was a right-handed outfielder who played eleven seasons in Major League Baseball. After attending Shaw University, where he competed in baseball, football, and basketball, Hinton served two years in the U.S. Army before signing with the Baltimore Orioles following a 1956 tryout camp. He won minor-league batting championships with Aberdeen in 1959 and Stockton in 1960 before reaching the majors with Washington in 1961. Hinton went on to play for the Senators, Cleveland Indians, and California Angels, finishing with a .264 batting average, 113 home runs, and 443 RBI across 1,353 games.
