Dossier

Charles Ray Hunsinger (1925–1998) was a running back from Harrisburg, Illinois who played college football at the University of Florida under coach Bear Wolf from 1946 to 1949. He rushed for 2,017 yards as a Gator, including 842 yards in 1948 and 774 in 1949, and registered a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Alabama in 1948. Popular enough on campus to inspire the student-sung "Humdinger Song," Hunsinger went on to play six professional seasons in the 1950s, spending time with the Chicago Bears in the NFL and the Montreal Alouettes in the IRFU.
