Cid Edwards

Dossier

Cleophus J. "Cid" Edwards Jr. (1943–2013) was a running back who played in the National Football League from 1968 to 1975, after attending Tennessee State. He spent much of his career with the San Diego Chargers, where he had his most productive stretch in 1972, frequently receiving screen passes and converting them for significant yardage. His time in San Diego ended under contentious circumstances in 1974 when the Chargers suspended him without explanation; Edwards later learned conflicting accounts, including that he had missed a team meeting despite having played in the preceding game. He finished his career with the Chicago Bears in 1975.
