Clarence Childs (born January 13, 1938, in Lakeland, Florida) played college football at Florida A&M University under Hall of Fame coach Jake Gaither, starring at halfback. His Rattlers teams won the Orange Blossom Classic in 1959 and 1960, the de facto HBCU championship game — Childs scored three touchdowns in the 1959 contest. He was inducted into Florida A&M's Hall of Fame in 1978. In the NFL, Childs played defensive back, halfback, and kickoff returner for the New York Giants from 1964 to 1967 and the Chicago Bears in 1968.
