Dossier

Claude Raymond Hendrix (1889–1944) was a right-handed pitcher who spent his major league career in the National League and Federal League. Born in Olathe, Kansas, he attended Fairmount College before signing with the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he played from 1911 to 1913. He then joined the Chicago Whales of the Federal League (1914–15), pitching a no-hitter in 1915, before moving to the Chicago Cubs (1916–20). Hendrix holds the distinction of being the first pitcher to win a game at Weeghman Park, later known as Wrigley Field. His career ended following a 1921 allegation that he had tipped off a gambler about a possibly fixed 1920 game.
