Daniel Moody Edwards (1926–2001) was an end who played professional football in the AAFC, CFL, and NFL after a college career at Georgia. Pittsburgh selected him ninth overall in the first round of the 1948 NFL Draft, though he began his pro career with the AAFC's Brooklyn Dodgers (1948) and Chicago Hornets (1949). He moved to the NFL with the New York Yanks (1950–51), Dallas Texans (1952), and Baltimore Colts (1953–54). In 1950 he earned Pro Bowl and First-team All-Pro honors. He holds the record for the shortest kickoff return for a touchdown — 17 yards, recorded October 17, 1949. After retiring, he coached four seasons in Canada with the BC Lions and Edmonton Eskimos before becoming an oil executive.
