Daniel Francis O'Connell (January 21, 1929 – October 2, 1969) was a right-handed infielder who played in Major League Baseball from 1950 through 1962. Born in Paterson, New Jersey, he spent time with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Braves, New York and San Francisco Giants, and Washington Senators. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1952, interrupting a stretch in which he hit .292 and .294 in consecutive seasons. On April 15, 1958, O'Connell scored the first run in the first major league game played on the West Coast, a Giants victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
