Darrel Lee Chaney (born March 9, 1948, in Hammond, Indiana) played shortstop in Major League Baseball from 1969 to 1979. A three-sport standout at Oliver P. Morton High School and a 1966 Parade Magazine All-American quarterback, he was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the second round of the 1966 draft. He spent the bulk of his career with Cincinnati, where the club won three National League pennants and a World Series championship between 1970 and 1975. He finished his playing days with the Atlanta Braves, then transitioned to broadcasting, working as a television color commentator alongside Ernie Johnson, Skip Caray, and Pete Van Wieren on WTBS-TV and the Braves Radio Network.
