David Edwin Duncan (born September 26, 1945) played eleven seasons as a catcher in Major League Baseball for the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics, Cleveland Indians, and Baltimore Orioles. Signed by the Athletics out of Crawford High School in San Diego in 1963, he made his major league debut on May 6, 1964 at age 18, the youngest player in the American League at the time. After retiring as a player, Duncan built a distinguished career as a pitching coach with the Indians, Seattle Mariners, Chicago White Sox, Athletics, and St. Louis Cardinals, guiding four Cy Young Award winners and earning four World Series rings in 1972, 1989, 2006, and 2011.
