Dave Hampton

Dave Hampton (born May 7, 1947, in Akron, Ohio) was a running back and return specialist in the NFL from the late 1960s through the mid-1970s. He played college football at the University of Wyoming before entering the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, where he returned a kickoff for a touchdown in each of his first three seasons. His 1,314 kickoff return yards in 1971 rank second in NFL history for a 14-game season. After joining the Atlanta Falcons, Hampton led the team in rushing every season from 1972 through 1975, earning the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year award in 1975 and becoming the first Falcon to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season.
