Dossier

Dave Lopes was a Major League Baseball second baseman who played from 1972 to 1987, spending ten seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers. A four-time All-Star, Lopes was a cornerstone of the most durable infield in major league history, helping the Dodgers win four National League pennants and the 1981 World Series. He led the NL in stolen bases in 1975 and 1976, and his 418 career steals remain second in franchise history behind Maury Wills. In 1978 he earned his only Gold Glove Award while batting .324 down the stretch, then hit .389 in the NLCS and .308 with three home runs in the World Series.
