David Andrew Whitsell (1936–1999) was a professional football cornerback who played college football at Indiana University before embarking on an NFL career with the Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, and New Orleans Saints. A versatile athlete in his youth, Whitsell grew up in Shelby, Michigan, where he earned 16 high school letters across football, basketball, track, and baseball. His professional career reached its peak recognition when he was selected to the Pro Bowl following the 1967 season.
