David McMakin

David McMakin played tight end in the NFL from 1972 to 1976 for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, and Seattle Seahawks. A Clemson product, he was selected 63rd overall by Pittsburgh in the third round of the 1972 NFL Draft. McMakin was part of the Steelers team that won Super Bowl IX over the Minnesota Vikings, the franchise's first championship. He is also connected to the Immaculate Reception — the 1972 playoff game against the Oakland Raiders — where his block on linebacker Phil Villapiano played a role in Franco Harris's famous winning touchdown catch.
