Dellos Clinton "Sheriff" Gainer (1886–1947) was an American first baseman from West Virginia who spent 10 seasons in Major League Baseball with the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and St. Louis Cardinals across a professional career spanning 21 years. A capable fielder and consistent hitter, he posted a .295 average for the 1915 Red Sox — third on the club behind Tris Speaker and Babe Ruth — and a .308 average in 1917, second only to Ruth. He was part of Boston's World Series championship teams in 1915 and 1916, delivering the game-winning hit in the 14th inning of Game 2 of the 1916 Series.
