Richard Anthony Allen (March 8, 1942 – December 7, 2020), nicknamed "Crash" and "the Wampum Walloper," played 15 seasons in Major League Baseball as a first baseman and third baseman, primarily with the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox. Born in Wampum, Pennsylvania, Allen won the 1964 National League Rookie of the Year award and the 1972 American League Most Valuable Player award. A seven-time All-Star, he led the AL in home runs twice and posted a career .534 slugging percentage. The Phillies retired his number 15 in September 2020. Allen was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on July 27, 2025.
