Richard Edward Donovan (1927–1997) was a right-handed pitcher who appeared in Major League Baseball from 1950 through 1965. A Boston native, he played for the Boston Braves, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, Washington Senators, and Cleveland Indians. After learning to throw a slider in the minors, he established himself in the White Sox rotation in 1955, earning an All-Star selection while going 15–9. He led the American League in WHIP in 1956 and in winning percentage in 1957 with a 16–6 record. He also pitched in the 1959 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
