Dossier

Richard William Tidrow (May 14, 1947 – July 10, 2021) was an American professional baseball pitcher who spent parts of his career with the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees, among other clubs. Originally a starting pitcher when he debuted with Cleveland in 1972, he was shifted to the bullpen by Yankees manager Bill Virdon late in the 1974 season. He earned the nickname "Dirt" during his time in New York, a nod to his unkempt appearance and habit of dirtying his uniform before games even began. After his playing career he served as senior vice president of player personnel for the San Francisco Giants.
