Dirk DeWayne Minniefield (born January 17, 1961) is a guard who played three seasons in the NBA after a standout career at Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky, where he was named the 1979 Kentucky Mr. Basketball and earned McDonald's and Parade All-American honors. At the University of Kentucky he joined the 1,000-point club. Dallas selected him in the second round of the 1983 NBA Draft (33rd overall). The 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard went on to appear for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, and Boston Celtics during his professional career.
