Fred "Dixie" Walker (September 24, 1910 – May 17, 1982) was a right fielder who played in Major League Baseball from 1931 to 1949, appearing in 1,905 games across clubs including the New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Brooklyn Dodgers, and Pittsburgh Pirates. A five-time All-Star, Walker won the National League batting title in 1944 and the RBI championship in 1945 as a Dodger, finishing his career with a .310 average in the National League and 1,023 RBIs overall. His popularity at Ebbets Field in the 1940s earned him the nickname "the People's Cherce."
