Dossier

James Otis, known as "Doc", was born October 8, 1887 in Wadena, Indiana, and died August 17, 1951 in Bell, California. He made his major-league debut in 1908 and was associated chiefly with the New York Giants, with his final big-league appearance coming in 1918, a span of 11 seasons. His broader professional career — including minor-league service — extended through 1929. He was listed at 180 pounds, and batted and threw right-handed. He appears on the T204 Ramly and E254 Colgan's Chips issues, two of the defining sets of the deadball era. He is buried at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California.
