Dock Phillip Ellis Jr. (1945–2008) was a right-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1968 through 1979. He spent his most productive seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates, contributing to five National League Eastern Division titles between 1970 and 1975 and the Pirates' 1971 World Series championship. Ellis started for the National League in the 1971 All-Star Game and threw a no-hitter on June 12, 1970. He later played for the New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers, and New York Mets, earning the Sporting News Comeback Player of the Year after helping New York reach the 1976 American League pennant. He finished with a 138–119 record, a 3.46 ERA, and 1,136 strikeouts.
