William Denton, known as "Dolly", was born December 4, 1878 in Atlantic Mine, Michigan, and died April 3, 1956 in Yuba City, California. He made his major-league debut in 1909 and was associated chiefly with the Washington Senators, with his final big-league appearance coming in 1911. His broader professional career — including minor-league service — extended through 1913. He stood 6-foot-2 and was listed at 160 pounds, and batted and threw left-handed.
